BFC put in their finest performance of the season so far, claiming a well-deserved three points against King George on Saturday. BFC were dominant for the most of the match and it’s difficult to recall any notable chances for King George throughout the game. This lack of obvious chances for the opposition however may have had much to do with The Man Mountain  from Munich, Hendrik Bierwirth.  Seemingly inspired by his fellow Münchener, Manuel Neuer, Hendrik darted out to dispatch dangerous through balls on more than a few occasions. In truth, that was about as much as King George could muster in terms of chances against a BFC team who enjoyed most of the possession

Despite this dominance on the ball, it seemed as if the first half might end frustratingly goalless for the BFC boys, especially after Rowan skied a penalty. Alex Sahara rushed to our captain’s aid, stepping up to break the deadlock with a fine strike from a tight angle, more than making a mends for his own missed penalty last time these two sides played. Midway through the second half Marco Knopper made it two with a fine strike from just inside the 18 yard box after arriving ‘late’ Frank Lampard style. Now playing with great confidence and composure, BFC then put together a beautiful team move, spraying the ball around pitch with great elegance, before Casper Bertheau popped up to put the icing on the cake.

All in all, it was a very encouraging performance from the side with excellent performances in all areas across the pitch. Particular praise however must go to Rowan Krzysiak for a commanding display of aerial prowess at the back; long-time legend Alex Sahara for a superb goal and assist; and our accomplished Dutch dynamo Marco Knopper for demanding the ball in tight spaces, communicating well with team mates, and generally orchestrating play, not to mention a fine goal and assist.

Well played lads. Let the Championship-winning season begin!
