Player Profile

BFC Vagabonds - British Football Club

Gareth Hughes

Occupation:  English teacher
Entry to Japan:  Oct 1994
Footballing hero:  Maradonna
Supports:  Everton
Most memorable BFC/Vags moments:  Taking the piss out of the BFC Old boys in a Highland games match between 2 BFC teams. Being allowed to play a full game instead of running the line!

Gareth ‘The Welsh Wizard’ once had a trial for Watford and was told he was too skinny. His belly is out-weighed only by the size of his skills. He loves to do his George Best impressions and often runs round defenders twice just for the hell of it. Hits the bar a lot.
More recently has become the main engineer in the midfield guiding the team to some fine victories. His mazy runs dribbling past countless defenders have become his trademark both on the full-size and futsal pitches. He worked his magic at the 2001 Copa Chile to help secure victory for the first time.
