A game that was cancelled earlier in the season due to an admin mess-up on the Sagarmatha side. BFC made them wish that they had their house in order because despite being top-of-the-league Sagarmatha were dominated over during a 3-1 victory for the BFC.
On a bright, sunny Saturday morning the game seemed to have a cagey start with no team wanting to take the initiative but, this was a deception. For once it seemed BFC had control of the game from the off and they were waiting and soaking up the initial offerings from Sagarmatha to see what they were made of. This pattern continued. Out of possession BFC were calm and organised and in possession they were building focus and confidence.
The deadlock was broken with a charging run from Daigo down the left-hand side. He charged and charged some more….then a bit more and smashed it in. It was a rocket! Easy-peasy and well-deserved.
In amongst this increasing pressure, BFC had about 6 corners that were either soft deliveries or great deliveries with no-one on the end of it. Well, finally the best of both worlds came together and Paris was able to find Rowan’s head in amongst a tussle with the keeper. 2-0!
Sagarmatha scored almost immediately from the second-half kick-off and it was largely the result of BFC complacency and a wonder-strike but if anything it served to focus the team even more.
This focus was rewarded when Romen tried an audacious shot while almost hugging the right-hand touchline. The mixture of the looping shot and Emil charging the ball down proved too much for the keeper. Emil got the touch and made it 3-1.
There were more BFC chances to speak of and we could’ve walked away with at least a couple more. For a team that has cruised at the top of the league for the season, BFC seemed to turn up and deflate any spirit they had. No options seemed available to them largely due to the control of the midfield trio Paris, Sauce and Saul.
It was a big result that gives us a sniff of the title again.
