Perfect conditions, a good grass pitch, new players and the start of BFC’s 23/34 TML campaign!
The first test was from old friends Kilimajaro FC although the reality was that they provided little in the way of opposition on this particular occasion.
Their main route to goal was via long balls lofted over from deep in the midfield, balls that were easily cut out by BFC.
Kilimanjaro only really had one chance of merit the whole game that came in the first half. It was a lowish drive from their right side across the face of goal that Kenjiro was more than a match for, pushing it away without issue.
As for the BFC and despite new players in most sections of the pitch, the build-up play wasn’t too forced it just had a few errors and lack of patience with key passes when players had created some space.
The efforts were proven out by the large amount of corners recieved that while although none were able to be converted, they all conributed to the pressure.
That pressure turned the game around forcing a remarkable error from the Kilimanjaro defence. As a 50-50 ball was floated by Saco toward the edge of the box for a BFC attack, one defender in a crazy moment knocked it out of the air with his hand. It was a remarkable act that saw him sent off and provided a free-kick in a dangerous position that Emil converted directly and with ease. 1-0 up against 10 men.
As a competition that completely killed the game. BFC got too more goals. One again where a terrible defensive decision saw Saco upended in the box that again saw a conversion from Emil. The other was the result of some good play on the left wing allowing debutant Mridul to run through on goal and calmly slot the ball in the back of the net.
There’ll be bigger tests as we move through the season but a win is a win. This was a performance that brimmed with potential. There were kinks but nothing that you wouldn’t expect from a team with players that need to get their bones moving again after the break and others that needed to gel within the group.
A good start. Three goals, three points.
Come on BFC!
