Game 3 – BFC 7-1 Kanto Celts 🍀
Another game, another solid performance – and it needed to be. Takuma was in street magician mode again, Pete couldn’t stop scoring if he tried, and James added yet another to his scoring record that now qualifies as fantasy football.
Kev was still taking on anyone in front of him, Brian was everywhere at once, and Teppei continued to be ‘wow’ed’ from watching BFC play in front of him. Rowan patrolled the pitch with the intensity of a man looking for lost treasure. Nao quietly put in a composed and committed shift all day — he slotted into the squad seamlessly and showed the kind of football intelligence we love to see.
Celts did sneak one in, meaning no clean sheet, but let’s be honest—it wasn’t for lack of orchestration or effort. Sometimes even the great wall gets chipped.
Still three games to go. Mathematically, we could still lose the title (8 points clear with 9 to play for)… but with this momentum? Second place is a dogfight: Fine Vintage and FJ Masters in pole position, but Celts and Union Pacifico are sniffing around.
One flashpoint worth noting: an inappropriate comment from Pabs at a corner during the Celts game led to a memorable moment later in the game. Duffy coming in with a message to deliver and flattening Pabs with a firm challenge that Sam would be proud of — it earnt him a yellow card in the process (NB the only yellow BFC have seen seen the whole season). No harm done, it was all smiles immediately afterwards (and in the club house after the game), but a good reminder that respect matters and the Masters League still delivers its lessons.
