Player Profile

British Football Club

Kevin O’Rourke

Occupation: English Teacher
Entry to Japan: Feb. 1996 – May 2002
Footballing hero: As a teenager I liked Maradona, especially that ”Hand of God” goal against the scum of the earth. Before that I idolised Kenny Dalglish.
Supports: CELTIC
How became BFC member: I had initially responded to a notice in Footniks put up by Don, but was unable to play on weekends and then when I finally did get weekends off I happened to meet Gordon who told me to come out for a game against Albion at St.Mary’s in early ’97. We lost that day but I scored and have been in the team ever since.
Most memorable BFC/Vags moments: Winning the Cup the last two years(2000/01) has been great, as was winning the Player of the Year(99). Tour in Ueda was phenomenal along with all the piss-ups after games which is sorely lacking in the team nowadays- too many people going their separate ways after games.
Kev says: ”I think the team has improved a lot since the first time I played, and it is getting better. I expect we will do well this year and will bring in a couple of trophies. With a little more passing and passion I think it will be a very good year indeed. All we need is for Nokia to sponsor a new strip and we might even look like a team.”

Kev knows more four-letter words than anyone, including Sid. BFC Player of the Year in 1999 and the team’s pet rottweiler, can be reduced to the Andrex puppy when his missus turns up to watch games. Hard-as-nails centre-back who enjoys regular trips to Bali as club treasurer.
