The BFC Update – 23/06/2023
TML Update
It has been a long, long break in the TML schedule for the BFC. Can anyone remember when Arsenal were 4 points clear at the top of the Premier League? Yes, it really has been that long.
It should also be noted that this is a long break in a long season. TML 2022/23 is already running longer than the Premier League this year that had a World Cup in the middle of it!
As such you can be forgiven for not keeping track of the current standings but fear not……we’ve got you covered.
Tomorrow (Saturday 24th) sees BFC take on the first of our two games in a row against Jetro FC.
They are by no means push-overs and still hold a mathematical possibility of promotion. They have only let in 20 league goals this year so they seem tight at the back and may be difficult to break down.
A win for BFC will likely bump us back up into 3rd position in the league.
Already promoted FC Sagarmatha are likely to cement their Championship victory as they play King George FC in their final fixture tomorrow. Which leaves the BFC hunting down FC Nomade for that second-place promotion spot.
Nomade are facing Fussa FC tomorrow, a team they bet 5-1 last month so we won’t be counting on any favours there either.
Following our two games against Fussa (the second of which is on Sunday July 2nd), we have Guapo FC on the 9th leaving only one unscheduled fixture left against Kilamanjaro FC.
The simple fact is that if we win all our games then BFC will be in TML Division Two next season.
The Arsenal point at the beginning here however shows how easily things can shift in momentum. This year we’ve had games where we’ve turned-over the best team out of all of the divisions only to go and fluff our lines the following week against ‘minnows’.
There is still 20% of the season to go and we must go with only winning in mind.
End of Season
The prolonged season has made our end-of-season festivities difficult to plan.
There are some assumptions that our season will finish on the weekend of the 15th but we are still to get confirmation.
If BFC have a successful finish to the season, expect a buoyant night of celebration to follow soon after.
In terms of the Club’s administration, we are also on the lookout to improve what we have started this year with the newly revitalised direction. Conversations are happening now about next year’s focuses and if you feel you are ready to actively contribute in anyway, reach out to the Club’s inbox as a starting point.
BFC Futsal
As always, a quick nod to BFC Futsal which has soldiered on throughout the whole year.
Refer to the page on the site to keep up to date on future fixtures.
There’s currently an oppourtunity for over 40s to compete in a Masters event at the YC&AC on July 1st, register here
and a regular BFC Futsal sesh in for Thursday evening, July 13th at ThinkPark Arena. We had a great turn out for the last one with a similar timeslot so get involved by sticking your name down here.
That’s the summary.
Four games to go. Take one at a time. Fight to ensure promotion.
Come on BFC!!
