This is not a fun match report to write.
Our fourth loss of the league season puts us down to fourth place in the league and it was a game that lacked any cohesion or all-round team spark. It is also the first game in which we have failed to score.

We started as we have quite often which is slowly, allowing the opponents to play before cranking it up and taking control. What happened this time is that in the ‘cranking-up’ phase where we were starting to have the better of the game, they got a goal on the counter before the half that seemed to disrupt our mentality.
Physically we were matching them all over the field but there was unnecessary frustration and urgency about our attacks and it left us exposed again to a counter that we couldn’t respond to.
They also banged one it at the end to lock in the result.
We just never seemed to be able to lift ourselves up to chase the game.

We had a few debutants in the mix but their performances were solid so it’s hard to pinpoint the reasons it fell so flat. It shows though that you never really know who you’re up against in this league. You have to be switched on and ready to go and then ready to bring more when the time demands it. Sadly, this week we were not able to do that.
