Two grass pitches in a row! Was it a good omen? Well….this grass pitch was a bit less cosy than the previous week’s with a dirty sand-pit surrounding the middle of the pitch.
A nice looking surface with pockets that really let it down…..and with that said, let’s talk about the game 😉
BFC played some good football this week. Players that were playing their second game in a row seemed a bit more at ease and those that had joined the campaign also appeared to slot in with relative ease. A couple of errors however led to goals that we couldn’t come back from despite best efforts.
Guapo FC have become BFC’s recent bogey team and they can always pose a threat if they turn it on. Despite the sand-pits, they still showed the ability to link up with each other smoothly with short 1 or 2 touch passing towards the goal. They didn’t rely on that either, mixing in some long balls that could also prove effective.
Despite this, out of the early exchanges BFC probably just edged it on the chances but were not able to make them hit the target.
Guapo pressured us to put the ball behind for a corner. As we saw with the beginning of last season, it proved to be an achilles heel and some lose marking allowed them to convert.
Their second goal came from an unfortunate kick from the back that gave them a free run at the goal which they didn’t waste.
The nature of the goals meant BFC still had belief at half-time but a sparky maneuver and a well timed pass from Guapo allowed another goal to be slotted away.
This combined with a missed penalty from BFC soon after meant that it just wasn’t meant to be our day.
Lots of positives to take from the game despite the result however. The team spirit seems to already exist to push past this results an on to Jetro next week.
Come on BFC!
